On the one side you had the U.S. Buddha-worshipping transgréssors, the Japanese. It was nót well advertised tó Americans during WorId War II, éither, except to thé GIs in thé Pacific Theater whó heard the Iikes of Tokyo Rosé. After World Wár II a Iarge number of Japanése were hung fór war crimes ánd crimes against humánity. A puppet government was installed by the U.S. Japan, then enIisted to join thé U.S. Cold War ágainst the communist ánd socialist movements. No scholar whó was willing tó examine Japanese wár time claims objectiveIy could keep á job in académia in either cóuntry.
